The interest in ČEB and EGAP services has been growing
Czech exporters, in spite of the crisis, have been increasing their activity. The Czech Exportation Bank (ČEB) financed 30 % more transactions in the first half-year 2009 and the volume of EGAP insurance contracts increased as much as 50 %. This year both companies have extended their offer and present it to the visitors to MSV on open space in front of Hall Z.

In particular a psychological barrier prevents a higher extension of digital factories
Ziyon Amram, Vice-President of the company Siemens PLM Software (Israel) and propagator of virtual simulation of production processes belongs to VIP foreign guests of MSV 2009. The Israeli professional spoke at the conference “Digital factory” on the topic “How to create more quality products, make them in a more effective way and use enterprise information”. He then gave us an interesting interview.

The Czechs are able to build the quickest dam against floods in the world
Although this morning was sunny at the Brno Exhibition Centre, the visitors could see a dynamic shock of a 6 m high wave, followed by a several-minute surf. This phenomenon was not caused by weather, but by specialists in anti-flood protection at the head with the firm VOP Dolní Bousov which presented a mobile anti-flood dam in a pool in front of Hall Z.

Research centers offer engineering firms a cooperation in top projects
The project Transfer of technologies and innovations which was staged at the International Engineering Fair was aimed at presenting engineering firms possible sorts of a cooperation with research centers. The presentation of every project included an application sphere or research and an envisaged building of a new research and development infrastructure.

Topolánek: Nuclear energy is the only way out in solving the energy situation in the Czech Republic
„Nucleus against crisis“ was the title of the Czech-Slovak conference staged at the International Engineering Fair. At the conference not the present crisis, but the future crises should be solved, not only economic, security, in power engineering etc. A building of new nuclear energy sources will not help during the present fight against global recession. The time of building a nuclear power station and necessary permissions are too long. These were the words by the former Prime Minister Mirek Topolánek at introduction.

Manufacturers of machine tools have been expecting another drop
Czech manufacturers of machine tools expect another drop, however, they are ready to a future revival. Representatives of the Union of Engineering Technology informed about it at a press conference during the International Engineering Fair.

Austria has increased investments on the Czech market
Last year the Czech-Austrian trade exchange exceeded the volume of 8 bill. EUR, however, in the first half-year 2009 it noted a drop of more than 25 %. On the other hand, this year Austrian investments on the Czech market have increased . Commercial Counsellor of the Austrian Embassy Nicolas Seiwald said so in an interview at MSV in Brno.

MSV was ceremonially opened by the top representatives of the Czech and Slovak Republic
Both the Czech and Slovak anthem have ceremonially opened, in Rotunda of Hall A, the International Engineering Fair and the International Fair Transport a Logistika. This year’s run of the Engineering Fair differs from the foregoing years as it is staged at the period of a marked economic drop. Just the events of a similar character are of great importance now.

Members of the National Governmental Economic Council published, on the occasion of MSV, a document which analyses the situation in Czech economy, warns against the risks of the future development and suggests a possible solution.

New Škoda tramway for Prague and also Riga
The Pilsen company ŠKODA TRANSPORTATION has developed a three-articulated modular tramway called ForCity. A modern tramway of a 100 % low floor is involved which is able to transport comfortably as many as 300 persons. It has been tested in Prague, in the future it should be also used in Latvian Riga. For the whole week the tramway ForCity can be seen at the Engineering Fair in Brno on open space at Hall A.

MSV 2009 will have new exhibitors and emphasize innovations
For five days the Brno Exhibition Centre will display new products and technologies for industry, transport and logistics. Although this year’s run has been affected by economic crisis, the International Engineering Fair with its 1500 exhibitors has remained the largest industrial fair of the Central-European area and its offer is very attractive. Over 50 percent of announced exhibits are novelties and innovated products.

First competition of young mechanical engineers in programming CNC machines
Union of Engineering Technology (SST) in cooperation with the Association of Secondary Vocational Industrial Schools (ASPS) and the firm HEIDENHAIN stage, within the MSV accompanying program, the first run of a Competition of Young Mechanical Engineers in CNC Programming of Machine Tools. It is aimed at informing young people and other persons on engineering.

The youngest exhibitor presents a machine of his own design
In Hall B visitors to MSV can see a prototype of a universal hook bender – the project of the student Jan Nezval who was awarded at the most important world competition of secondary-school scientific projects INTEL ISEF in American Reno.

Czech Airlines (CSA) is the official carrier for MSV 2009 – 51st International Engineering Fair and Transport a Logistika 2009 – 5th International Fair for Transport and Logistics and offers connections via Prague to an entire network of major destinations worldwide.

Accompanying programme
The traditional part of the trade fair is the varied expert accompanying programme. The five days of the fair shall see several tens of conferences, seminars, discussion forums and workshops with international participants. In terms of topics covered they will focus mainly on the latest technologies.

The specialised project “Transfer of technologies and innovations” shall concentrate the presentation of universities and their R&D capacities offered to industry.

Gold medal MSV with a new concept
The traditional competition for the best exhibits at MSV has gained a new and more attractive form this year. The application is not subject to any fees; therefore the exhibitors of innovative products do not have to hesitate: they have nothing to lose and if their exhibit proves successful they also get a financial reward.

Without logistic processes, which reduce costs and increase competitiveness, modern production and trade could not be imagined. The complex offer of products, technologies, and services for the efficient flow of goods is usually presented in the odd years parallel with MSV.

For the first time, exhibitors at MSV will have the opportunity of using the new P hall, which is, with its 15 thousand square metres, the biggest exhibition hall in Central Europe.

Slovakia – official partner country of MSV 2009
The trade fair was originally held as Czechoslovak and in a way this is still valid: for many Slovak corporations MSV is still the leading presentation of all the international events. Slovakia, with its number of represented companies being second after Germany, was announced as the official partner country of MSV 2009.

Industrial leaders meeting in Brno
The term of 14th - 18th September 2009 belongs to industrial, transport, and logistic technologies at the Brno Exhibition Centre. The last weeks before the opening of both fairs are dedicated to intensive preparation activities: exhibitors are fine-tuning the details of their stands and presentations and are preparing information materials on their news and innovations to be exhibited. Organisers are busy organising the accompanying programme and are finishing with the preparation of the promotional campaign that is intended to attract as many professional visitors to the fairgrounds as possible.

Slovakia – partner country for MSV 2009
The first International Engineering Fair was staged in 1959 and also thanks to last year’s celebrations of the 50th jubilee this is a fairly well-known fact. However many people have not the slightest idea that before this event became an international affair three extremely successful exhibitions of Czechoslovak engineering were held.

MSV, the 51st International Engineering Fair in Brno will introduce new products and trends in nine key industries, including metal working and forming machines. The specialised 5th Transport & Logistics International Fair regularly held in odd years will be held at the same time.
