The last generation of the Markem-Imaje inkjet printer 5800 uses a unique technology called Touch Dry which provides quality bold printing on cartons as well as plastic. The printer is especially suitable for food package imprinting due to its special technology which uses hot wax for printing. It guarantees 100% barcode legibility according to GS1 during the whole lifetime of the package in the logistic chain. „Printed symbols and pictures dry up immediately after their contact with the material, they never feather or fade. Contrary to ink, hot wax can be used also when imprinting on plastic,“ noted Pavel Ondrášek. The second novelty marked 5600 is a new generation of inkjet printers with high resolution for carton imprinting. This technology uses ink based on Glycol-Ether.

Products of the 5000 line are unique in their field. Until last year, the patented hot ink Touch Dry technology was implemented in the 5200/5400 product line, as of this year it was also implemented in the 5800 printer. A great competition advantage of the new model is the possibility of re-using printer heads used in the 5000 line. “No other technology used for carton imprinting does not have this possibility, printer heads of other competitors are replaced by new ones once their lifespan is over. This fact significantly reflects on the decrease of total operational costs of the imprinting machinery operation in a company,“ added the CEO.
The advantage of the 5800 wax printer is its high productivity – hot inks print on a wide array of materials in an environment from 0 to 40şC. It can boast a printing speed up to 182m/min., its communication abilities include a colour touch screen, Ethernet and USB. A web browser offers increased flexibility and functionality for the end user, integrators and OEM producers. The 5800 printer can be integrated in production lines, databases or ERP systems using CoLOS Enterprise® software.
